Retired Swedish footballer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently the senior advisor of AC Milan, declined to provide any comments on whether the club had made a last-minute attempt to secure the signature of Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Recall that Victor Osimhen was one of the most talked about personalities in the 2024 summer transfer window as he had made up his mind to leave Napoli for a new destination.
Due to the release clause attached to the contract he signed with the former Italian champions, which is worth €130 million, most of his suitors couldn’t afford him.
Hence, Osimhen’s desire to leave the Italian side this summer dragged on until the last day of the transfer window. At that point, Premier League side Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli were the only clubs remaining in the race.
Unfortunately, their push to sign the 25-year-old Nigeria international collapsed at the last minute due to the financial aspects of the offer from the two clubs.
Amid that, there were reports that AC Milan was considering signing Victor Osimhen, but nothing concrete happened, just like in the case of Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Liverpool,ol, who reportedly showed interest in the Nigerian at some point in the transfer window.
Osimhen ended up leaving Napoli for Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan with a break option that could be activated in January by ten major clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG.
When reporters in Italy asked Zlatan Ibrahimovic if AC Milan wanted to sign Victor Osimhen, as reported by Italian news outlet AS Tuttosport, the Swedish football icon responded, ”I won’t comment,” as he gave a half smile.
Victor Osimhen, who made his debut for Galatasaray against Caykur Rizespor, will face his biggest test in Turkey on Saturday when his new club faces Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe.
