We Can Hold Our Own Against Nigeria, South Africa – Lesotho Coach Insists

Lesotho's head coach, Leslie Notsi

Lesotho’s head coach, Leslie Notsi, is optimistic about his team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence in their potential to perform well against formidable opponents.

Currently, Lesotho who are also known as Crocodiles are occupying the fourth place in Group C, accumulating a total of five points.

They trail the group leaders—Rwanda, second-placed South Africa, and third-placed Benin Republic—by just two points, creating a competitive atmosphere as the qualifiers progress.

In contrast, the Super Eagles of Nigeria find themselves in fifth place with only three points, adding to the intensity of the group dynamics.

Notsi shared his thoughts with FIFA.com, highlighting the challenge presented by powerhouse teams such as Nigeria and South Africa.

However, he remained undeterred, stating, “We’re in a group with giants like Nigeria and South Africa, but we’ve shown we can hold our own.”

He emphasized that his team has managed to achieve commendable results against teams with significantly more resources at their disposal. Notably, they secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw in their match against Nigeria and celebrated a convincing victory over Zimbabwe.

As the World Cup qualifiers prepare to resume in March 2025, Lesotho will face tough encounters against both South Africa and Rwanda.
