The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the ongoing crisis in Rivers State is not an ethnic affair.

Naija News recalls that the political crisis in the state escalated on Monday, over the plot to impeach Governor Simi Fubara.

Leader of the House of Assembly, Ehie Edison, an ally of the Governor, was summarily removed.

Subsequently, all local government chairpersons were reportedly removed, and the state executive dissolved.

The chief judge of the state, Chibuzor Amade, was also suspended by members of the Assembly loyal to Fubara.

The series of events in the state generated outrage, with many political elites accusing Wike of being responsible for the political crisis.

Speaking on Tuesday, Wike said the issue is a party affair, and the Peoples Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders are looking into the crisis to resolve it.

Meanwhile, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has accused the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of being behind the plot to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

In a press statement on Monday signed by its President, Prof. Benjamin Ogle Okaba, the group said the plot to impeach the Rivers governor is selfish, nepotistic and barbaric.

The group said the plot to impeach Fubara is very worrisome and capable of generating an unwarranted state of insecurity and instability in Rivers State and the entire Niger Delta region.

It also warned Wike to concentrate on his responsibilities as the FCT minister and stop interfering and arm-twisting the political machinery in the state to advance his personal and selfish desires.
