Uzodinma Orders Immediate Payment Of N30,000 Minimum Wage To Imo State Workers

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has approved the immediate implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage for workers in the state.

The Governor gave the order in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwuike Nwachukwu, where he noted that the decision comes after fruitful negotiations with labour leaders in the state.

According to the statement, the implementation of the new minimum wage will commence with workers on the lower levels.

Government and labour negotiators will continue deliberations on the consequential adjustments that will be made for other senior categories of workers.

Meanwhile, Naija News recalls the organized labour in the country has threatened to withdraw the services of workers in states that fail to implement the new minimum wage.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in April 2019, approved the new minimum wage of N30,000 for workers in the country.

Following the conclusion of negotiations between labour and the federal government, attention has now turned to the states for negotiations and implementation of the new minimum wage.
