Boko Haram Recruits New Members In Kaduna, Shares Sallah Gifts

A faction of Boko Haram, Ansaru terrorists, has reportedly begun aggressive recruitment of new members in Kaduna State.

Naija News understands that the notorious terrorist group started the recruitment process during a visit to some villages in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

According to Daily Trust, the terrorists, during their visit shared gifts with the residents to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr and to woo the residents to join them.

Some of the villages visited by the terrorist group include Damari, Farin Ruwa, Kwasa Kwasa, Kuyello, Gobirawa, Tabanni, Kutemeshi and Kazage.

CBN Governor, Emefiele Picks N100m APC Presidential Form

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has reportedly picked up the presidential nomination and expression of interest form of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was gathered that Emefiele picked the N100 million forms from the party’s organising secretary at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, on Friday.

Emefiele’s spokesperson however did not return a request seeking comments, and the CBN governor himself declined comments.

The purchase of the APC presidential form by Emefiele puts to rest speculation that he is plotting to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Yerima Joins 2023 Presidential Race, Informs Buhari

A former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential race.

Naija News reports that Yerima made the declaration on Friday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to State House correspondents, Yerima said he was at the Villa to inform President Buhari about his intention to succeed him in 2023.

He added that he would pick up his forms on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also make the official declaration today.

Video: Niger Delta Militants Vow To Drop Arms If APC Gives Emefiele 2023 Presidential Ticket

Niger Delta Militants have asked the All Progressive Congress, APC to give its 2023 presidential ticket to Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

The group promised to drop their arms if their demand is met by the ruling party.

The gun-wielding men made their demands known in a viral video clip posted on the internet.

Biafra: Umahi Opens Up On ‘Relationship’ With IPOB During Meeting With Buhari

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi on Friday declared that he has always disagreed with the activities and mode of operations of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Umahi made the submission during a meeting between some Igbo leaders and President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a two-day working visit to Ebonyi State.

The Governor stressed that in the early stages of the IPOB activities, he had always openly condemned their mode of operations but some other stakeholders in the region decided to play politics with what was happening.

He added that now, the entire southeast is suffering from the challenges of insecurity and everyone is running helter-skelter for a solution.

What Igbo Leaders Told Buhari About Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked again to release the detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Naija News reports that the IPOB leader, who is being detained at the headquarters of the Department of State Service (DSS), is facing a seven-count charge of terrorism.

During a meeting with the President on Friday, the South-East leaders said the release of the IPOB leader will bring peace to the region and stop the agitation of the proscribed group.

The leaders made this known in a meeting with Buhari at the Executive Council Chambers, New Government House Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state.

I Won’t Interfere In Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial, Buhari Tells Igbo Leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari says he will not interfere in the trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The Nigerian leader made this known on Friday during a meeting with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and South-East leaders at the Ebonyi Government House in Abakaliki, the state capital.

President Buhari urged the Igbo leaders to allow the court to decide the IPOB leader’s fate and other Igbo youths in detention across the country.

The President reiterated that interfering in Kanu’s trial will be unconstitutional and contravene the powers of the Judiciary.

Biafra: Trouble For IPOB As UK Recognizes Nnamdi Kanu Group As A Terrorist Organization

The government of the United Kingdom (UK) has labelled the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organization.

The recognition of IPOB as a terrorist group by the UK is contained in an updated policy statement on asylum released through the UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) on its website.

The policy updated in May 2022 says it agrees with the government of Nigeria which labelled IPOB and its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) as terrorist organizations.

The UK government also blamed IPOB and ESN led by the arrested Nnamdi Kanu for the increasing violence and human rights violations in the southeast region f the country, ordering its visa officials to exclude members of the group from its asylum programme.

Another Buhari Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu Joins Presidential Race

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations, Ogbonnaya Onu has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Onu while declaring his intention at an event in Abuja on Friday, revealed why it took him time to express his 2023 ambition.

According to the former Governor of Abia State, he delayed his declaration to allow Nigerians to return from the festivities considering the importance of his ambition.

Onu in his statement described himself as a “man of great compassion”, adding that he provided free treatment in public hospitals as a governor.
