The Sokoto State government has earmarked N380 million on this year’s Ramadan feeding programme. Governor Aminu Tambuwal disclosed Sunday afternoon in Sokoto.
He said an increase was approved from the previous N300 million for the programme in order to create additional feeding centres in the state.
Daily Trust reports that the Governor spoke at the flag off of the distribution of the Sokoto State 2019 Ramadan package charity for the poor at the auditorium of Sultan Muhammad Maccido institute for Quran and General Studies Sokoto.
Tambuwal, who was represented by the state Deputy Governor Manir Mohammed Dan-Iya, said over N200 million would be spent for the purchase of Ramadan and Sallah packages under the state zakkat and endowment commission and N175 million on Ramadan package for distribution to Imams, deputy Imams and other religious leaders under the state ministry for religious affairs.
In a remark, Sultan Muhammad Saad Abubakar applauded the State government for sustaining the Ramadan feeding programme Naija News understands which has been scheduled to continue for 30 days.
