The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, has lost his fourth term bid to return to the National Assembly.
Smart Adeyemi who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost to Hon. Sunday Karimi.
At the party’s senatorial primary election conducted in Kabba on Saturday, Hon. Karimi defeated the three-time Senator and three other aspirants to emerge the APC flagbearer for Kogi West Senatorial District.
Naija News gathered that Hon. Karimi represented Yagba Federal Constituency between 2011 to 2016 in the House of Representatives.
At the end of the election, Hon. Sunday Karimi scored 288 votes while Muyiwa Aina came second with 73 votes.
Senator Smart Adeyemi received 43 votes, while Doyin Eshanumi, the only woman in the race, received only one vote. Isah Abdulkareem received 9 votes, with 6 votes being invalid.
Abubakar Ohere, on the other hand, got the APC ticket for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
He received 260 votes, beating out Hajia Ramatu Attah, who received 13 votes, and Sheriff Dalhatu, who received 11 votes.
