Shehu Sani Reacts To Beheading Of Ex-Anambra Lawmaker

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani had condemned the beheading of a physically challenged ex-lawmaker identified as Nelson Achukwu.

It was reported that the former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly was kidnapped from his home in Ukpor on June 9, 2022, by unknown gunmen.

Achukwu was later found by his relatives on Tuesday 21st June 2022 with a decapitated body and was quickly buried as the corpse has started to decompose.

The decapitated body of the late former lawmaker was reportedly found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor areas of the state.

It was gathered that it was the second kidnap of Achukwu as he was earlier abducted by the gunmen a few months ago and was later released after the payment of N15 million ransom.

The late lawmaker was initially accused of providing information to the military but was released when the gunmen discovered that the allegations against him were false. But the reason for his second kidnap and murder is unknown.

Reacting to the development, Senator Sani stated that the beheading of the former lawmaker is highly condemnable.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Wednesday night, Sani stated that the silence and fear of speaking out against the gunmen only embolden them.

“The beheading of the ex-Anambra lawmaker, Nelson Achukwu by terrorists ‘Gunmen’ is condemnable. Silence and fear of speaking out against them only embolden them,” he wrote.
