The first set of pictures from the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party’s special convention to choose its presidential candidate for the 2023 elections has emerged online.
Naija News reports barring any last-minute change, the PDP will hold its presidential primaries on Saturday (today) and Sunday at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The venue had been inspected by Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and other members of the national convention planning committee ahead of the planned primaries.

However, there are fears that the major opposition party may also postpone its planned presidential primaries after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Friday that it has extended the deadline for political parties to conduct their primary elections ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Naija News understands the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called an emergency meeting to discuss the possible postponement of its convention scheduled today, Saturday.
It was gathered that the main agenda of the meeting is to deliberate on if the extension will give the ruling All Progressives Congress an undue advantage at the presidential election next February.
“We have strong reasons to believe that the extension was announced by INEC today to allow the APC properly digest the outcome of PDP’s convention and pick its candidate accordingly,” a PDP official with information about the meeting’s agenda told Peoples Gazette.
