FRSC To Enforce Use Of Motorcycle/Tricycle Rider’s Licences From August 1

The Federal Road Safety Corps Commander in charge of Benue and two other States, Assistant Corps Marshal Ayobami Omiyale, has revealed that the commission will start seizing motorcycle and tricycle without number plates and rider’s licence with effect from August 1.

Mr Omiyale the said commission had to take the drastic decision with the increasing number of death and mortality cases recorded in the last six month. He explained that the zone has recorded 186 road traffic casualties in the first 24 weeks of 2019.

According to him, “the most probable cause of the accidents are, loss of control, dangerous driving/overtaking, among others.”

4 New Special Advisers Sworn-In In Benue State

Inaugurating the new special advisers, Ortom charged them to work earnestly in assisting his administration to provide selfless service to people of the state.

The governor noted that the appointees exhibited diligence, commitment and dedication to duty in their previous assignments which had earned them a reappointment.

He said that people of hard work and good character were needed to occupy strategic offices to help implement the recommendations of the Dr. Iyorchia Ayu-led Transition Committee.

The Governor charged the appointees to be prudent in the discharge of their duties and shun the temptation to get involved in things that would make them regular visitors to anti-graft agencies after their tenure.

Benue Killings: Gov Ortom Spells Out Why Benue Would Not Accept ‘Ruga Settlement For Herdsmen’

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has kicked against plans by the Federal Government to establish ‘Ruga settlements’ for Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Ortom insisted that Benue does not have lands to accommodate the herdsmen for the purposes of grazing reserves, grazing routes, cattle colonies or ruga settlements.

He said the state can only afford to give lands for ranches establishment. In a statement by Terver Akase, his Chief Press Secretary, the Governor stated that Benue people would embrace the policy only if it supports the implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017.

Benue, Imo, Ondo, States, Others Respond To Buhari’s Grazing Plan

Some states have rejected the Federal government’s Ruga Settlement initiative to wade into the herdmen-farmers crisis, saying that they have no land to release for the plan.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom said Benue State had no land for the Federal Government proposed Ruga settlements for Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, he explained that Ruga settlement policy was imposed on states during the National Council on Agriculture summit held in Owerri, Imo State, in April this year by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
