The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt to request the Certified True Copies of the election results.
Naija News reports that Cole, while addressing pressmen on Friday at the INEC premises in Port Harcourt, wondered why the commission has refused to release the documents despite all the applications and court injunctions ordering it too.
According to him, INEC’s refusal to release the certified true results is delaying the party’s preparations to file for a petition at the election tribunal.
The Rivers State APC flagbearer express anger at the commission’s failure to release the document even after almost two weeks after the March 18 governorship and state assembly polls.
Also speaking at the INEC office was the APC legal adviser in the state, Dike Iheanyichukwu, who wondered why INEC had yet to release the documents, saying the action of the commission is eliciting suspicion.
He also bemoaned that INEC’s failure to release the Certified True Copies of the election results is affecting the constitutional 21-day window to file a petition at the tribunal.
