#RevolutionNow: Why Sowore Is Yet To Be Released – DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed why it is yet to release the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.

Naija News recalls that the Federal High Court, Abuja, had threatened to jail the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi, over the detention of the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Sowore.

The court made this known in a warning notice dated Thursday, September 26.

In the notice tagged “notice of disobedience to order of court” issued by the court and addressed to the DSS DG, the Federal High Court directed the boss of the secret police to comply with it’s directive or face grave consequences, which includes “commitment to prison”.

Speaking to the Punch on Thursday, Spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunnaya said the DSS as a law-abiding agency.

He stated that the agency has the highest regard for the laws of the land and would not do anything to undermine law and order.

“We have not received the court order. And his (Sowore’s) counsel is a very senior member of the bar and he knows the process to follow; this process has not been followed,” Afunnaya said.
