The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment and redeployment of six Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands across Nigeria.

This strategic restructuring follows recent promotions within the Nigeria Police Force, reflecting a dedicated effort to enhance law enforcement leadership and improve the effectiveness of policing nationwide.

The new appointments were detailed in a statement released on Tuesday, December 24, by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani.

CP Shettima Mohammed will lead the Nasarawa State Command, CP Rabiu Mohammed has been assigned to the Kaduna State Command, while CP Adepoju Adewale will guide initiatives within the Rivers State Command.

The statement also noted that CP Mohammed Azare will take charge of the Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Wilfred Afolabi has been appointed to the Ondo State Command, while CP Joseph Eribo, recognized for his commendable service in Akwa Ibom, has been redeployed to the Ekiti State Command to continue enhancing security measures.

In his remarks on these appointments, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (retd), highlighted the significant responsibility that comes with these roles.

He encouraged the new commissioners to fully commit to the government’s mission of stabilizing the nation and emphasized the importance of safeguarding all states from crime and criminality, which aligns with the central goal of ensuring public safety and community trust.

The statement added, “DIG Argungu stated that the Commission would closely monitor their progress and encourage their success in their new roles. He also urged them to reciprocate the Government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of their fatherland.”
