According to NAN, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday departed the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja for Saudi Arabia.
The President was reported to have departed the country with members of his entourage from the airport at about 11 am.
Those who were present to bid the president farewell included his Chief of Staff, Malam Abba Kyari; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu and other government officials.
Recall that Naija News had reported that the president was traveling to the Holy Land following an invitation from King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the king of Saudi Arabia.
A statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Malam Garba Shehu, confirmed that President Buhari would perform the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) while in Saudi Arabia.
