Some suspected gunmen in Cross River State have kidnapped Ani Esin, the Chief Security Adviser to the state Governor, Ben Ayade.
A report into the incident revealed that he was abducted in his residence on Tuesday by 3 am by suspected kidnappers who were with assorted guns.
A source who gave his name as Etim alleged that the kidnapping might be in connection to the recent political events in the state.
“Though the action is regrettable, it may not be unconnected with recent developments in the State,” he stated.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo confirmed the kidnap.
She states that the incident took place in his house on Tuesday and he has been rescued and receiving treatment at an undisclosed health institution
“When the Police were informed about the incident, the Commissioner of Police and other Police officers went into action and rescued the victim.
“The driver that was driving the victim had an accident on the way and died on the spot. we have rescued the victim.”
“The Police under the present administration is working hard to protect citizens and property” she stated.
