A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu has reacted to a statement by the National secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru asking the federal government to prosecute Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for treason.
Recall that Bashiru had said that it is time for some of the statements made by Obi to be looked into by the Attorney General of the Federation.
Sharing a picture of Bashiru on his Instagram handle, Momodu said that politicians are now threatening Nigerians for expressing their opinions.
He argued that President Bola Tinubu gained popularity because he was constantly attacking former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Momodu wondered why anyone would ask that Peter Obi be charged with treason simply because he asked some questions
According to him, “Some politicians who are now threatening fellow Nigerians for PEACEFULLY expressing their opinions have studiously forgotten our contemporary history… Nobody was more vocal against dictatorship than TINUBU… He gained a lot of popularity by constantly attacking PRESIDENT OLUSEGUN OBASANJO and others. Why would anyone say PETER OBI should be charged for treason for asking some pertinent questions? Are we moving from MILITARY TYRANY to CIVILIAN DICTATORSHIP? This type of renewed HERO WORSHIP is extremely dangerous and unfortunate!”
