Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Ademola Ojo as his new Deputy Chief of Staff.
Naija News understands that Ojo’s appointment was confirmed in a letter signed and released Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun.
The appointment, according to the letter, takes effect from June 24, 2022. Naija News understands that the former Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, used to be a staunch critic of Governor Makinde and his administration.
The appointee is also a well-known member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting, however, to his appointment, Ojo said he received the governor’s offer with happiness and that he would serve under Makinde in the interest of the people of the Ibarapa political zone.
Naija News understands that the former Ibarapa Central Local Government Chairman was also the House of Representatives candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
Ojo said his appointment was a welcome development for the people of Ibarapa, who had already been complaining about the marginalization of the zone politically.
According to him, the appointment was not only coming to the zone but with the Makinde’s pledge to execute people-oriented projects in the area.
He thanked the governor for the appointment, promising that he, with the support of the Ibarapa people, would reciprocate the gesture during the 2023 election.
