The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
Naija News reports that the governorship election in Ondo State is scheduled for November 16, 2024.
Amid preparation for the civic exercise, PDP said the incumbent Governor is already in a panic mode after he could not convince the people to trust him with their mandate.
PDP accused Aiyedatiwa of using various strategies to secure victory in the upcoming governorship election regardless of the means employed.
Characterizing the governor’s actions as desperate, the opposition party pointed out that one of these strategies involves a ₦31 billion contract for the construction of a judicial complex in Akure, the state capital, which is allegedly awarded to the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released by its Publicity Secretary in Ondo State, Kennedy Peretei, the PDP noted that other tactics include the promise of a ₦73,000 minimum wage by Aiyedatiwa and the appointment of over 400 aides, who have reportedly not received their salaries since their appointment two months ago.
“Having failed to convince the people why they should trust him with their mandate, some panicky measures were taken. And because they were not all well thought out, they all fell flat on their backs.
“The 416 political appointees, carefully selected from the 203 Electoral Wards, were shocked to discover that, for the month of October 2024, they received no salary alert. What is the guarantee that, after losing the election in November, they will be paid?
“After spending ten months in the saddle, it is his programs and projects that should have done the campaigns for Governor Aiyedatiwa. Instead, he is recruiting propagandists to lie to Ondo State people, as if we are blind and deaf,” the PDP added.
