NYSC Reveals What Will Happen To Unvaccinated Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps on Monday disclosed that unvaccinated corps members will be barred from accessing their camp grounds across the country.

The DG of the youth scheme, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, while announcing the development, said the measure will take effect from the next orientation camp.

Ibrahim while addressing 2021 Batch “C” Stream Two Corps Members and Camp Officials, noted that prospective corps members will now need to show evidence of vaccination from coronavirus before gaining access to the camp ground.

According to the DG, NYSC is trying to curb the spread of the virus following the detection of the Omicron COVID variant in the country.

He further stated that corps members would not be given two weeks break after leaving the Orientation Camp.

Ibrahim charged corps members to add value to themselves by acquiring skills that would make them business owners, instead of seeking white-collar jobs.

The DG also warned corps members to desist from travelling at night, but break any journey extending beyond 6:00 pm and pass the night in a safe place.

“We have NYSC Corps Lodges, Secretariats and Army barracks, find out where they are and make sure you pass the night there for journeys that will take you beyond six to get to your destination.”
