The presidency on Monday rejected claims that President Muhammadu Buhari has divided Nigerians since coming into power in 2015.
The special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina who made the denial added that those accusing Buhari of dividing Nigeria are the very ones who have divided Nigeria with their mouths.
He added that the situation where the president is being accused by his critics of dividing Nigeria is a sad one, stressing that no wicked intention shall come to pass.
He wrote: “Those who divided Nigeria with their mouths, with evil, unguarded speaking, are the ones now accusing President Buhari. How sad! Their wicked intentions shall not come to pass.”

Naija News reports the reaction from Adesina comes a few hours after the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, berated President Buhari over the worsening insecurity in the country.
In his Easter message on Sunday, the vocal cleric said the Buhari-led government has polarised the nation into ethnic and religious lines and has slid into hibernation mode.
Kukah said the country had been divided by politicians and evildoers who do to want the country to grow and develop, adding that it seems like the presidency does not know that Nigeria is troubled.
He asserted that the greatest challenge for Nigeria was not even the 2023 general elections, but the process of reconstructing the nation and reconciling the people.
The cleric submitted that the only thing working in Nigeria is corruption and the country is in need of urgent rescue.
He added that the Buhari administration has divided the people on the basis of ethnicity, religion, and region, in a way that has never been witnessed before in the history of Nigeria.
The vocal cleric said the worsening insecurity in the country is because of the ineptitude of the President and his government, saying the country has been battered on every side.
