Nollywood Actress, Hilda Dokubo Becomes New Acting Labour Party Chairman In Rivers

Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo, has emerged the new acting chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party.

Naija News gathered that Dokubo’s appointment as the new acting chairman in Rivers State was contained in a statement signed by the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, on Thursday.

According to Abure, the appointment became necessary following the tenure expiration and dissolution of the caretaker committee led by the former chairman, Dienye Pepple.

It would be recalled that earlier in the week, Pepple and some other members of the party declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Siminialayi Fubara.

A development that led to the immediate dissolution of the executive council of the Rivers State branch of the party.

Abure noted in the statement that the state officials of the party were axed for gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of the party’s funds.

The Labour Party national chairman remarked that the dissolution became necessary because the state chapter of the party had collapsed its structure to endorse PDP’s Fubara in the state.

Therefore, the leadership of the party in the state where the presidential mandate of the party’s flag bearer, Peter Obi, was openly stolen should step aside until a full investigation into what happened at the last election was completed.

It was gathered that other members of the committee include Philip Loveday as secretary and Gogo Wellington as publicity secretary.
