The PUNCH: The Federal Government may spend about N236 billion monthly to subsidise the Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, that is imported through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company and the one that is solely off-taken by NNPC from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. On Monday, the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, called on the Federal Government to end fuel subsidies completely.

Vanguard: The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS, yesterday, announced that Nigeria’s unemployment rate grew by 1.2 percentage points to 5.3 per cent year-on-year, YoY. This came on a day the Central Bank of Nigeria, yesterday, raised the Monetary Policy Rate, MPR, by 27.25 per cent.

Daily Trust: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has insisted on bold reforms in the UN Security Council with a view to giving Nigeria and other African countries permanent seats at the council. Tinubu who is the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of States and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) stated this while addressing world leaders during the General Debate of the ongoing 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN headquarters in New York, United States.
