The United Kingdom on Monday justified its travel ban on Nigeria, saying the measure was a temporary measure aimed at protecting its public health, The PUNCH.
According to The Guardian, criticisms, yesterday, trailed United Kingdom (UK)’s travel ban after Nigeria was placed on a red list amid fears over spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The ban, which came into effect yesterday, meant only UK residents or citizens can enter the UK from Nigeria and they will have to self-isolate in a pre-booked government-approved hotel for 10 days at their own expense.
The Federal Government, according to Vanguard, has described the British government’s decision to put Nigeria on the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 pandemic red list as unjust, unfair, punitive and discriminatory.
In a move to save his presidential ambition, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to meet Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over the crisis rocking the party in Kano State, Daily Trust reports.
The presidency on Monday said the insecurity challenges bedeviling Nigeria will not stop foreign investors from coming into the country to do business, according to Daily Independent.
