The PUNCH: Over 20 Deposit Money Banks on Monday began the implementation of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s new cash withdrawal limit policy across the country with bank customers expressing anger over the new rule. The Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, had on December 21, 2022, bowed to pressure and revised the bank’s earlier cash withdrawal limits.
The Guardian: There is anxiety in the private sector as Federal Government seeks to heap more taxes on businesses through its controversial Finance Bill 2022. The National Assembly hastily passed the bill, alongside the 2023 Appropriation Bill, without subjecting it to a public hearing, an aspect now contested by the organised private sector (OPS).
This Day: Four months after launching the presidential campaign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jos, the Plateau State capital, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday returned to the rostrum as he stormed Yola, the Adamawa State capital, to canvass for votes for the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the party ahead of the February and March, 2023 election.
The Nation: President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said Nigerians can trust the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with their votes and the leadership of the country. The President joined the APC presidential campaign train in Yola, yesterday with a charge to the people of Adamawa State to vote massively for Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Daily Trust: The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has scored the Ministries of Finance, Education, Power and Education low in its latest ethics and transparency index report released on Monday. The assessment report by the ICPC is part of its mandate where it deploys the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) in federal government’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to assess their compliance to extant ethical, integrity, statutory, policy and regulatory standards and practices.
