The National Judicial Commission has been advised to review the salaries of judges that have been stagnated for over a decade.
Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom who gave the advice in Makurdi while swearing in two high court judges aid their welfare ought to be of utmost concern to shield them from the temptation of compromise.
Judges, by the nature of their duties, are a special breed, who deserve good working conditions to shield them from the temptations of being compromised.”Their welfare and wellbeing ought to be of utmost concern. It is in view of this fact that I appeal to the NJC to review the salaries of judges that have been static for over a decade,” he said.
He also suggested that since the NJC started central control, discipline and payment of salaries and allowances, it was logical for the council to also handle pensions of retired state judges.
Naija News understands that Governor Samuel Ortom while administering the oath of office on the two high court judges was glad that their commitment and dedication to duty has paid off with their elevation to a higher office.
