INEC Reveals Date For Supplementary Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday fixed 23rd March 2019 for supplementary elections in states where elections were declared inconclusive.

The electoral commission disclosed the new date in a statement signed by the National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye.

Police Speak On Arresting Kano Deputy Governor

The Kano State Police Command has cleared the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who was taken to the CID unit of the command in the early hours of Monday over alleged disruption of results collation process for Saturday’s gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

Gawuna, who is also the running mate to the incumbent governor and the candidate of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was taken to the command headquarters along with the state’s Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo and the Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government Area, Lamin Sani.

INEC Reveals Why Rivers Election Was Suspended

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained that the electoral process in Rivers State was suspended due to violence and threat to life.

The electoral body had declared the election in Rivers State inconclusive after suspending the collation of results for Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections due to electoral malpractice in the state.

Uche Nwosu Breaks Silence, Takes Action Against Imo Election Results, PDP

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo state and son-in-law of the incumbent governor of the state, Rochas OkorochaUche Nwosu, has vowed to take legal action against the result of the governorship election announced in the state.

Nwosu who has vowed to challenge the outcome of the Saturday, March 9 election in a court of competent jurisdiction, seems not to agree with the fact that his closest viral and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Emeka Ihedioha won the governorship race in the state.

Kano Supplementary Election Will Shock PDP – Ganduje

The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, will receive the “shock of its lives” in the supplementary election.

Naija News reports that INEC returning officer for the election, declared the poll inconclusive, citing the cancellation of over 100,000 votes across 172 polling units.

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reacted to the heavy military presence in the state during the 2019 elections.

According to the party, the presence of security agents in the state prevented a total break down of law and order which could have occurred.
