I Can’t Lose Rivers Governorship Election – Wike Boasts
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has expressed confidence of getting reelected for a second term.
Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, March 9 for the governorship elections across the country.
Reacting to the forthcoming election in his state, Wike, who wrote on Twitter, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he is seeking reelection on its platform, cannot lose the election, saying the would mean the election was not free and fair if the PDP loses.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has revealed that it will not issue certificates of return to any candidate declared winner of an election under duress.
Naija News reports that the development was made known by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu during a meeting with the inter-agency consultative committee on election security which held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Thursday.
This online news platform recalls that there were reports of widespread intimidation and harassment of the commission’s staff during the Presidential and National Assembly elections which took place February 23.
Governorship Elections: PDP’s Peter Obi Sends Strong Warning To APC
The 2019 Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, has urged the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government not to allow the alleged electoral malpractices witnessed during the February 23 elections reflect in Saturday’s governorship elections.
Naija News reports that Obi made the call in an interview with journalists on Thursday in Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra state, southeast Nigeria. The former governor called for peaceful and credible polls on March 9, noting that free and fair elections were required to strengthen the nation’s democracy.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that it does not have a plan of embarking on an industrial action now.

Reacting to the reports that the union was thinking of embarking on another strike action, the ASUU President said it should be disregarded as the information did not emanate from the union.
Why Saraki, NASS Clerk May Be Jailed
A Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to arrest Senate President Bukola Saraki and Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori if they fail to obey its order of June 13, 2018.
The court had ordered Saraki and Sani-Omolori to swear-in Air vice Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa (rtd) as the Senator representing Kogi east, just as it ordered Senator Attai Aidoko (PDP, Kogi east) to vacate the seat because he was not validly elected. Justice Gabriel Kolawole in addition ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to re-issue certificate of return in favour of Alfa.

Kebbi State Governor, Bagudu Loses brother
Alhaji Faruku Bagudu, the immediate younger brother of Kebbi Governor Abubakar Bagudu, is dead, Naija News understands. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.Dakingari said the governor’s younger brother died at his Birnin Kebbi residence on Thursday after a brief illness at the age of 56.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the deceased was, until his demise, the Managing Director of Jihab Communication Limited.He left behind one wife and four children and has been buried according to Islamic rites.
While condoling Governor Bagudu and his entire family, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North senatorial district, in a statement issued by his media aide, Jamil Yusuf Gulma, described his death as a great loss.

Founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has joined the party counseling, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, against going to court to challenge the outcome of the February 23 elections.
According to him, Atiku should spend on orphanages instead of giving money to lawyers to contest the results of the February 23 presidential election.
Maharaj, who also predicted victory for the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos and Oyo states, said the PDP wasted the country’s resources and did not deserve another chance at governance.
