N-Power: Presidency Sends ‘Strong Warning’ To Beneficiaries

N-Power Latest Information

The Presidency has condemned what it terms as the lackadaisical attitude of many beneficiaries towards its social empowerment scheme, N-Power.

Speaking on Saturday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Job Creation, Muhammed Brimah said many beneficiaries have not taken the opportunity seriously.

He spoke at a programme on how to create employment for youths organised by ‘The Companion’, an Islamic youth association.

Brimah said, “The initiative of N-Power was not to create permanent jobs of N30,000 monthly salaries for the beneficiaries but to train them on employability skills and how they can as well be independent and be employers of labour after they must have passed through two years training.

“But it is just unfortunate that many of the beneficiaries are not taking it seriously with the report that most of them do not always report at their places of training; instead they prefer sharing the stipend with the head of those organisations.”

Naija News recalls the Federal Government under its social intervention scheme had since 2016 through the N-Power scheme, employed about 500,000 youths into various sectors of the economy who enjoy the payment of N30,000 monthly stipend.

Each cycle of the scheme is expected to run for two years.
