'Most Surrendered Boko Haram, Other Terrorists, Have Hard Currencies On Them' - CDS Musa Makes Shocking Revelation

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has disclosed that most of the surrendered insurgents from Boko Haram and other terrorist groups always have hard currencies on them.

General Musa lamented, however, that Nigeria does not have the jurisdiction to trace and track the source of such funds.

He hinted that such funds are part of the larger pool of what the terrorists have been using to train themselves and buy weapons for over fifteen years.

The CDS, who spoke during a recent interview with Aljazeera, therefore called on the United Nations (UN) to investigate the source of such funds, adding that it is obvious the insurgents are getting international support to sustain themselves and carry out terror activities for almost two decades.

General Musa submitted that it is only the UN that has the jurisdiction to trace and track the source of funding that Boko Haram members and other insurgents have been using to procure equipment and other logistics for over fifteen years.

“We have talked to international communities, let’s find out the funding. When they started surrending, as we speak, we have over 120,000 that have surrendered. Most of them when you find them, they are coming with hard currency. How did they get them? How are they funded? How did they get the training? How did they get the equipment?

“Well, maybe an international conspiracy (behind the insurgency in Nigeria), you don’t know. Who knows? How are they able to sustain themselves for fifteen years? That is one question I think everybody should ask.

“The UN needs to come in because we need to trace the funding, how are they sustaining themselves for fifteen years? (To come and) trace, and track the funding. It is international flow and we(Nigeria) don’t have control over that,” Musa said.

In a related news, Naija News reports General Musa has disclosed that the military is closing in on arresting notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

CDS Musa disclosed that Turji is aware the military is after him and has, therefore, been operating underground.

The military chief, however, said this won’t stop his arrest as the military is continuing its operations.
