Osinbajo Meets With Stakeholders To Decide Over New Minimum Wage

Members of the Economic Management Team led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are currently meeting with some state governors with a view to making a decision on the new national minimum wage.

The meeting  which was ongoing inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja as at the filing of this report has in attendance, state governors of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari; Kebbi StateAtiku Bagudu; Osun StateRauf Aragbesola; and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong.

Apart from Osinbajo, others at the meeting from the side of the Federal Government are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed; and Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma.

Others are the Head of Service to the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita; Director-General, National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Egbule; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.

Naija News recalls that the new minimum wage is an issue that has caused disagreement between government and labour leaders, with the organized labour threatening to go on an indefinite national strike from November 6, except the payment of N30,000 as new national minimum wage is adopted.
