Lobby For Juicy Committees Get Intense As Names Of Some Lawmakers Emerge 

As the lobby for juicy committees in the 10th National Assembly gets intense, the names of some lawmakers have reportedly been revealed for some committees.

Naja News understands that names of some lawmakers that have emerged to be part of some juicy committees include Senator Adeola Solomon (APC, Ogun West) for Appropriations; Senator Francis Fadahunsi ( PDP, Osun East) for Customs and Exercise; and Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central), who was named the Chairman of an ad hoc committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission.

This platform recalls that on Thursday, June 15, 2023, the Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Tajudeen Abbas, constituted seven special committees for the practical take-off of the assembly.

They are the Internal Security Committee, led by Mohammed Danjuma; Selection Committee, chaired by the Speaker himself; and Media Committee, headed by Buka Ibrahim.

Others are the Legislative Agenda Committee, which Prof Julius Ihonbvare chairs; the Rules and Business Committee, led by Igariwey Iduma; Welfare Committee, headed by Wale Raji; and Ethics and Privileges Committee, led by Tunji Olawuyi.

According to The Punch, some members of the House of Representatives were meeting principal officers of the house to lobby their way for the chairmanship of juicy committees.

It was observed by The Punch that many lawmakers were frequenting the office of the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau.

A source close to Barau revealed that the House of Representatives members met with him to help him plead with the Speaker to include them in prominent committees.

“The Deputy Senate President has been very busy; a lot of lawmakers both in the Senate and particularly the House of Representatives have been coming to him to help them plead with the Speaker to give them committee membership and chairmanship’” the source added
