Lagos: PDP Tackles Bode George Over Endorsement Of LP Candidate

The leadership of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly angry over the purported endorsement of the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, by a former deputy national chairman of the party, Chief Bode George.

Naija News reports that Rhodes-Vivour’s popularity soared after the victory of LP presidential candidate Peter Obi, in Lagos during the presidential election penultimate Saturday.

Recall that Bode George had on Monday, during a press conference, declared support for Rhodes-Vivour, warning against any plot to assassinate him.

George alleged concerns about the security and safety of the LP guber candidate and called on security agents to rise to the occasion.

He added that their position is not about his political affiliation but protecting a bonafide Lagosian.

The PDP chieftain spoke at a press conference on behalf of Omo Eko Pataki, an umbrella body of prominent Lagos indigenes, which took place at his Ikoyi office.

According to him, Rhodes-Vivour is a bonafide Lagosian, and should anything happen to him, the public should know who to hold responsible.

Reacting in a statement, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hakeem Amode, said the PDP candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adeniran, popularly known as Jandor, joined this gubernatorial race to promote worthy causes that would enhance the collective well-being and security of Lagosians and Nigerians in general.

“The PDP candidate is independent-minded and will not cave into the rapacious desires of reactionary forces. He has proved that he can hold his own on a number of occasions,” Daily Trust quoted him as saying.
