Lagos Govt. Shut Down Hospital Where Abba Kyari Was Treated, Five Others

The Lagos State Government on Monday shut down six hospitals in the state after some workers of the hospitals were exposed to Coronavirus.

The hospital was decontaminated on Monday and place under lock for two weeks.

The hospitals include St Nicholas, Lagos Island branch; First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi (where Abba Kyari died. St Edwards Hospital, Ajah, Vedic Lifecare Hospital, Lekki; County Hospital, Ogba and Premier Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island.

The development was revealed by the Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof Akin Abayomi, he further stated that Kyari died from complications of COVID-19 at First Cardiology Consultants in Lagos State which is listed among the hospitals above.

Vevic Lifecare Hospital in Lekki, in a statement, noted that the management suspended operations for approximately ten days.

The management noted that the operations were suspended after a Coronavirus patient was inadvertently admitted at the facility and two hospital staff members contracted the deadly virus.

A further report revealed that the staff and family members who visited the hospital or had been in contact with anyone who visited any of the listed hospitals have been advised to self-isolate and call the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
