Kylian Mbappe has been left out of the France national team squad for the upcoming October international break, despite being fit for international action.
This decision comes after Kylian Mbappe’s recent return to action for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League match against Lille.
Recall that Mbappe had been sidelined with a thigh injury following Real Madrid’s La Liga win over Alaves, but he made an earlier-than-expected comeback in the Champions League clash.
Although it was expected that Mbappe would be included in France’s squad for the UEFA Nations League matches in the October international break, he has been surprisingly omitted.
This marks the first time that the talented forward has been left out of the national team squad despite being fit since his debut in 2017.
France manager Didier Deschamps confirmed that he had spoken with Mbappe before deciding to drop him from the squad. He stated that Mbappe still has a minor problem, and to avoid any risks, he opted not to include him in the squad. This decision ensures that Mbappe can fully recover from his injury without any additional strain.
In Mbappe’s absence, the France squad for the upcoming international break includes notable names such as Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, AC Milan goalkeeper Mikel Maignan, and West Ham United goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
The defensive lineup features players like Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano, Liverpool’s Ibrahim Konate, Barcelona’s Jules Kounde, Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne, and Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana, among others.
Real Madrid duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga lead the midfield selections, while the attack will be led by PSG stars Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, and Randal Kolo Muani.
