Jaafar Jaafar, a journalist working for Daily Nigeria, who released the video of governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State allegedly receiving bribe has raised alarm over threat to his life.
Kano state government has said it has been the state governor was being blackmailed and it has even considered the legal process of prosecuting the journalist behind the video.
In an interview with the BBC, the journalist denied blackmailing the governor. According to him, he received more than fifteen video clips showing how the governor was receiving bribe from contractors.
Experts have explored the video, and have proven that its authenticity is not a matter of blackmail or doctored video, “Jaafar said.
However, the journalist said he had delayed publishing the video because of security problems, “Just a little bit before I publish the video and why it is so, I want to find a place to stay safe with family ”.
The state government has already denied the allegations in the state, saying that the state governor was only trying to slander the state governor.
A statement by Kano State Commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, said that “there is no iota of truth to these allegations and if indeed there is any such alleged video, it is at best cloned,“.
