Insecurity: Gov Samuel Ortom Declares War On Criminals In Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has revealed that there would be a statewide crackdown on criminals in the state.

Naija News learnt that Ortom said this in Agasha, Guma Local Government Area of the state at a thanksgiving service held at the NKST Church, Agasha.

The thanksgiving service was organised in his honour by the Nongov Community Development Association.

The governor said with the end of the one-week prayer and fasting programme organised in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria against evil in the state, it was time to match faith with works.

He promised that criminal elements would have no hiding place in the state again.

Naija News further understands that Ortom said a task force comprising the military, the police, as well as other security agencies would be engaged to fish out criminals.

“The operation will be targeted at kidnappers and cult members who have been harassing innocent people in some parts of the state,” he said.

Ortom reminded the people of the state about laws prohibiting kidnapping, cultism and other related crimes.The governor stated that the objective of the crackdown would be to restore peace to troubled areas, particularly in Sankera, Gboko, Kwande and other communities, so that economic and other activities would flourish.

He said, “God has heard the prayers of the people at several previous times such that I am confident that the war against crime would also be won.”

In his sermon, Reverend Thomas Chieve advised Christians to imbibe thanksgiving, which he said was pleasing to God.
