Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State governorship candidate, Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor, has said he would work with Funso Doherty to rescue the state from the ruling party.
Jandor said the defection of Funso Doherty, former Action Democratic Congress (ADC) Lagos State governorship candidate, was a welcome development.
Naija News reported that Doherty, on Monday, in a statement, said his defection to the main opposition PDP was to form a united front against All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.
Azeez Adediran said Doherty would not be last to join PDP. He added that more chieftains of APC who desire a breath of fresh air in the state would defect to PDP ahead of 2027 election.
In a statement, on Tuesday, on his X handle, Jandor said: “It’s indeed my pleasure to welcome Mr. Funso Doherty, the former gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) who announced his defection from the ADC to the PDP.
“His defection is a welcome development and a reflection of the readiness of all well-meaning Lagosians to come together to ensure a promise of a better tomorrow for Lagosians.
“Mr. Funso Doherty will not be the last to join the Lagos PDP for the actualization of the mission to offer a breath of fresh air in governance in 2027; many more chieftains of other political parties including the APC and key opinion leaders across the state will declare for the PDP in no distant future.
“Mr. Doherty is one of the few technocrat-turned-politicians I admire and respect. Together with him and other well-meaning stakeholders in Lagos State politics, we shall rescue the state in 2027 from the self-serving Leaders running the affairs of our state. Together we shall rescue Lagos.”
