Nigerian afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has claimed that cannabis, popularly called weed, is not a hard drug.
Naija News reports that the singer made this known on ‘The Morning Hustle’ podcast while discussing his foundation’s planned donation to orphanages and fight against drug abuse.
Davido said drug abuse is becoming rampant, and it is essential to help addicts quit drugs.
According to the singer, some people accused him of being a hypocrite for donating to fight against drug abuse while smoking weed.
Davido stated that he does not regard weed as a hard drug.
He said, “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.
“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.”
I Overcame A Lot Of Challenges Because Of My Father
Meanwhile, Davido has shared how his father, Adedeji Adeleke, pushed him to have faith in God.
The singer explained that his father’s lessons about having faith in God keep him motivated in the face of challenges.
He disclosed this in a recent podcast interview with Rollingout.
Davido spoke about his upbringing in a Christian home and the impact of his father’s religious lessons on his life.
According to him, he has been able to overcome difficult times because his dad taught him to never question God.
