Gov Rotimi Akeredolu Is Not Dead, Ondo Govt, Wife Debunk Rumour

The viral rumours which claimed the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu is dead have been debunked by the handlers of the governor.

Some social media and online reports (not Naija News) had claimed Governor Akeredolu was suffering from prostate cancer and had been on life support in a foreign hospital after going into a coma.

But his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Richard Olatunde, said the rumours are not true as the Governor was on the first part of his 2022 annual leave and duly notified the State House of Assembly in a letter dated March 23, 2022.

The statement also noted that the Governor duly transferreded power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

She wrote alongside the video, “Baba Aketi niyen! Dey enjoy your vacation jare. A begi wetin I dey hear, gist kini? Shitloveragain? Na you go waka go hell fire! (That is Baba Aketi, continue enjoying your vacation. What am I hearing? ‘Shitlover’ again? It is you that will go to hell fire.)”

Meanwhile, Naija News authoritatively reports Governor Akeredolu himself has returned to Nigeria.

He arrived at the International wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Nigeria at exactly 10:35pm on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

A video of his arrival was shared on Twitter by his Chief Press Secretary, Olatunde Richard, and retweeted by the Governor’s handle.
