Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has been elected as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum for the next four years.
Governor Lalong was elected by other Northern Governors during their meeting which was held on Friday in Kaduna State.
Recall that the Governor from the 19 Northern states during their meeting had appealed to the federal government to bring up a measure that could help bring an end to insecurity in the northern part of Nigeria.
The Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for his quick response to the insecurity in the region.
Shettima, who happens to be the outgoing chairman of the forum, stated that the forum has introduced and implemented quite a number of measures to stop insecurity in the region.
He also called on FG to draw out plans to tackle insecurity in the region permanently.
