The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki have arrived at Oyo State Governors Lodge in Abuja for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ forum meeting.
The meeting comes hours after some lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly made a move to impeach Governor Fubara.
Naija News had earlier reported that the development saw some hoodlums in the state burn some part of the House of Assembly complex.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, under the leadership of Bala Mohammed, is expected to discuss the off-season elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States, the Rivers state political crisis and other party-related issues.
In an earlier report, Naija News noted that a source close to one of the governors told Daily Trust that the meeting is expected to broker peace between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The source added that the PDP governors are not happy with the unfolding events in Rivers State and are poised to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
He said, “The governors are really surprised at what is happening; they are not happy and want to discuss within themselves and find a solution to the problem.
“You know Rivers is a PDP state even though the FCT minister is working with President Tinubu; he is still a member of the PDP. I believe that is why they want to meet immediately.”
