Hello Mr Jimoh, Can we meet you? Could you please walk us through your career path?
Absolutely! It’s been quite a journey. I started in the field, fixing tech issues firsthand as a Field Service Technician. From there, I moved into roles like Technical Support Specialist and NOC Technician II. These roles gave me a chance to dig into the tech nitty-gritty, sharpen my problem-solving skills, and understand the importance of giving great service.
That sounds like quite a ride! Now, can you share some moments you’re really proud of? Any standout achievements?
For sure! One highlight is leading a project where we made a company’s network better using SD-WAN. We boosted efficiency by 40% and cut downtime—talk about a win-win! And then, I led a cybersecurity effort that lowered security breaches and got recognized for our hard work.
Those are some solid achievements! So, what keeps you going? Any big dreams or plans for the future?
Passion is my fuel, definitely. Looking ahead, I’m aiming high. I want to get advanced certifications in Cloud security to up my game. And I’m really excited about SD-WAN—I want to dive even deeper and explore how it can make networks better and user experiences awesome.
Now, let’s get a peek at your projects. What important projects are you currently working on?
I’ve got this home tech lab where I tinker around. Right now, I’m working on a project that combines Cloud and SD-WAN to create a super-strong, super-secure network. It’s like building a tech castle!
What advice do you have for fellow tech enthusiasts?
My advice? Embrace the journey! Stay curious, don’t settle, and aim for the best. Building good relationships, whether with clients or coworkers, is key. And never forget, top-notch customer service is what keeps everything running smoothly.
Thanks for sharing your remarkable journey with us, Rasheed. Your passion for technology is truly inspiring. I noticed on your profile that you’ve been actively involved in mentoring individuals and guiding them towards earning their Security+ certification, especially considering the economic impact of COVID-19. Can you tell us more about this initiative?
Absolutely, I’d be delighted to. In light of the economic challenges posed by the pandemic, I recognized the importance of supporting aspiring tech professionals who might be facing difficulties. Many individuals are looking to enter the tech field and enhance their skill set through certifications like Security+. However, the financial strain caused by COVID-19 has made it challenging for some to access study materials, training courses, and exam fees.
That’s a commendable effort. How exactly have you been involved in this mentoring and guidance process?
I firmly believe in the power of mentorship and paying it forward. I’ve been actively engaging with individuals who express interest in pursuing their Security+ certification. Through one-on-one conversations and virtual mentoring sessions, I’ve been able to provide guidance on study resources, exam preparation strategies, and practical insights into the cybersecurity domain. Additionally, I’ve been sharing relevant online courses, study materials, and practice exams that are either free or accessible at a significantly reduced cost.
Could you share any success stories or experiences from your mentoring efforts?
Absolutely, I’d love to. One particular individual was passionate about transitioning into the cybersecurity field but faced financial constraints due to the pandemic. By pointing them towards free online courses, study guides, and practice tests, they were able to prepare effectively for the Security+ exam without the burden of extra expenses. I’m thrilled to share that they successfully passed the exam and are now well on their way to pursuing their dream career.
That’s truly impactful. How do you envision the future of this initiative?
My vision is to continue expanding this initiative and making it accessible to even more aspiring professionals. With the increasing demand for cybersecurity expertise, it’s crucial to support individuals who are eager to contribute to the field. I hope to collaborate with industry partners, educational institutions, and online learning platforms to create a robust network of resources that can be accessed by anyone looking to develop their skills, especially during these challenging times.
Your dedication to helping others during these tough times is truly commendable. Lastly, what message would you like to send out to individuals who might be considering pursuing a career in IT and cybersecurity, especially in the current economic climate?
To those considering a career in IT and cybersecurity, I want to emphasize that even in challenging times, opportunities for growth and learning abound. Don’t let financial barriers deter you from your aspirations. There is a wealth of free and affordable resources available online, and the tech community is incredibly supportive. Reach out, ask questions, and be proactive in seeking knowledge. Your passion and determination can overcome any obstacles, and by investing in your skills, you’re investing in a brighter future.
Thank you so much, Rasheed, for sharing your incredible journey, your mentoring efforts, and your valuable insights with us. Your commitment to uplifting others is truly inspiring, and we wish you all the best in your continued endeavors.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences. If my efforts can make a positive impact on even a few individuals, it’s all worth it. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive tech community that thrives regardless of challenges.
