EFCC Moves Affected Units To Its Headquarters In Abuja
After a fire outbreak at its office, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has relocated its data centre and inter-agency task force units to its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
Naija News reports how equipment worth millions of naira was damaged after a fire broke out at the old head office of the Agency in Wuse 2 area of Abuja on Monday night, 20th November, 2018
In a statement by Tony Orilade, acting spokesman of the commission, the value of the damaged items is in millions.
“The value of the damaged items, mostly ICT consumables, is in a few millions,” Orilade said.
He added that detailed analysis is being awaited.
He said men of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Wuse zonal office, subdued the raging fire that almost razed down the building.
He noted that the fire fighters led by Melone Onyekachi, the sector commander, arrived at the burning office when the service was alerted by Kayode Oyetunde, incident duty officer of the commission, at 7:10pm.
“The fire started at the former newsroom which now serves as storage for ICT equipment/consumables that were retrieved from the commission’s former offices scattered across Abuja,” he said.
The razed data centre is where the EFCC is likely to have records of all its arrests and recoveries.
