Super Eagles player, Odion Ighalo has been rated good by FIFA after yesterday’s Club World Cup match between Chelsea and Al-Hilal.
According to the football governing body, the Nigerian striker tormented the English Premier League side during the semi-final tie last night.
Naija News understands that Romelu Lukaku first-half opener saved Thomas Tuchel’s side from losing.
Though he could not earn a goal for his side, Ighalo performed brilliantly for Al-Hilal against Chelsea last night as the Nigerian attacker had a couple of shots saved by goalkeeper Kepa during the encounter.
Commenting on the match, FIFA in a post on its official website on Thursday, highlighted that the former Manchester United star caused problems for Chelsea defence with his physicality.
The statement reads: “Al Hilal’s trophy dream may be over at UAE 2021, but how they must be salivating over what Odion Ighalo may do in their hallowed blue shirt.
“After a superb debut against Al Jazira, the Nigeria striker tormented Chelsea with his strength and ability to turn, producing two breathtaking flicks along the way.”
Naija News understands that Chelsea will now face Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup final this weekend, while Ighalo and his teammates will clash with Al Ahly in the third-place final.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder, Mohamed Elneny has threatened to dump the club if he fails to get more playing time under the club manager, Mikel Arteta.
Elneny helped his country, Egypt reach the final of the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations.
The midfielder who played in all the five matches in AFCON noted that he would consider leaving the Emirate if he does not make the starting 11.
Naija News reports that Elneny in an interview with Ahmed Hossam Mido said, “I have a dream and I will not give it up.”
“I see myself able to be in the starting 11, but if I saw that the difference between me and my colleagues in Arsenal was too big, I would leave immediately, I’m not stubborn.”
He further stated that he left the club on a loan to the Turkish side, Besiktas in the 2019/20 season because he felt he was not part of then manager Unai Emery’s plans.
He added, “When [Unai] Emery was the coach, I left for Besiktas due to the feeling that the coach wouldn’t give me a chance.”
