Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has applauded the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata, for joining the Labour Party.
Naija News reported that Akpata on Monday was seen in a photo receiving the party’s membership card from the ward chairman.
Speaking about his LP membership, Akpata, via his Twitter handle on Tuesday morning, said that he joined the political party because he was tired of complaining about Nigeria every day.
He added that he decided to take the ‘plunge and tried to be the solution rather than continual agonising over the problem.’
Reacting to the development, Ezekwesili, in a post via her Twitter page, said she is delighted with the decision of Akpata.
Oby, who had often criticized the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party, describing them as Siamese twins, expressed appreciation to the former NBA chairman for taking up LP membership.
She added that millions of Nigerian citizens need to do likewise, and they must rebalance the configuration of the country’s politics for good governance.
She tweeted, “I am super delighted to read this @OlumideAkpata. Thanks for your exemplary step of taking up party membership. We need millions of citizens like you to do the same.
“We must rebalance the configuration of our politics to achieve Good Governance. Kudos”
