Ekiti: Kayode Ojo Moves To Appeal Court In Bid To Sack Biodun Oyebanji As APC Candidate

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Kayode Ojo, who challenged the emergence of Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s governorship candidate for the Ekiti 2022 governorship polls has rejected the judgment of the high court on the matter.

Reacting after the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday struck out the suit, Ojo vowed to pursue the matter in the court of appeal.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that the Federal High Court struck out the suit seeking to sack the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.

Justice Babs Kuewumi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, who presided over the case on Thursday ruled that the matter brought before the court was defective and thereafter struck it out.

But Ojo berated the judge for striking the case out on technical grounds, saying the judge took a wrong decision but he believes the appeal court will correct the error.

He said: “the judge wrongly dismissed our case based on technicalities.

“Though we believe in the sanctity of the court, the judge erred in his judgement and we know the appeal court will correct the error.

“We want to appeal to Ekiti people and our teeming supporters to be patient, that the race is not for the swift, it is not a sprint, but a marathon; that eventually justice will be served.

“We will meet at appeal.”

On the alleged presence of some thugs when the high court judgement was delivered, Mr. Ojo said he is not intimidated but appealed to his fans to maintain peace and decorum.

The plaintiff also called on security agents to do their job without fear or favour.

In his words, “I want to maintain that we are peace-loving citizens that believe in the rule of law and assure our supporters that the Appeal Court will eventually do justice to the case.

“We are capable of defending ourselves against thugs through legal means and miscreants, as we have on authority that the Government is sponsoring thugs to attack my person.

“Though, I am not moved, but need to say without fear that I will not standby and watch. If they are planning to set Ekiti on fire, that will be their prerogative, but it will be advisable that they allow justice to prevail.”
