DSS Speaks On Allegedly Working Against Electoral Process

The Department of State Services (DSS) has spoken to address the allegation suggesting that the security department is working against the electoral process particularly in Rivers.

Naija News reports that the DSS denied that it was instructed to work against the completion of the electoral process in the state.

This is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) had suspended the collation of the March 23 governorship election in Rivers.

The commission had fixed April 2 and 5 for collation, the announcement of the results already generated while there would be supplementary elections on April 15 in some areas in the state.

The public relations officer of the security department, Peter Afunanya disclosed this in a statement on Friday where he reassured that the service was not under any instruction from any quarter to work against the process as alleged.

“As a professional agency, it will continue to adhere to the principles of justice and fairness,” he said.

Afunanya said that this was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s stance on non-interference in the electoral process.
