The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally broken its silence to confirm the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, a presidential hopeful and publisher of a popular online news website, Sahara Reporters.

Naija News understands that the DSS in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, excused Sowore’s arrest for his planned protest of Monday, August 5, tagged ‘Revolution Now.’

The Security agency in its statement noted that Sowore threatened the public peace and safety with his planned protest.

The statement of the DSS is coming in about 24-hours after the arrest of Sowore in his home on Saturday, August 3.

While speaking on the arrest of Sowore, the spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunaya on Sunday said Sowore crossed the red-line by calling for a revolution.

He said the secret police would not ‘’just sit idly and watch any individual, group and their cohorts rise and threaten the peace, unity, and constitutionalism of the country’’.

“Though there is apprehension and anxiety among citizens already, we wish to assure friends of Nigeria, and other law-abiding citizens, that there will be no revolution of any kind come Monday, August 5, 2019,’’ he said.

“A democratically elected government is in charge, and we cannot allow any person or group to foment chaos or fan the ember of revolution.’’
