Senator Douye Diri, Bayelsa governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party was on Friday prevented from gaining entry into the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Diri, who was declared governor by the judgment of the Supreme Court on Thursday which disqualified David Lyon of the APC as governor-elect, arrived the INEC headquarters in Abuja around 11.13am.
This online medium understands Diri was at the INEC premises to collect his Certificate of Return. He was however prevented from gaining entrance by stern-looking security operatives.
A senior INEC official later came out to address him, noting that the Commission will notify him on the next step at the right time.
This happened while INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu was holding a closed-door meeting with some National Commissioners of the Commission on the court judgment on the Bayelsa governorship election.
