A popular activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has disclosed that singer and social media sensation, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is being detained by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
Naija News reports that Adeyanj revealed that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, was arrested based on a petition written by Grammy Award-winning artist, Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy.
The lawyer stated that Akpi was arrested in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in detention.
Deji Adeyanju, however, did not give details of the petition in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
He wrote, “We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.”
Recall that in recent video, Speed Darlington had questioned the authenticity of Burna Boy’s Grammy award, linking the A-list artiste to embattled music mogul Sean Combs, known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.
Burna Boy, on Tuesday morning, wrote on his X handle, “Who’s missing?”
The Nigerian Police Force is yet to release any information on the arrest as of press time.
